Queanbeyan & Captains Flat

The kitchens of Queanbeyan serve such an amazing variety of foods that there’s never an excuse for boredom.

If you feel like a traditional Australian steak meal, you can’t go past The Central Cafe. This landmark has been around so long they must be doing something very right.

Aab-e-Hayat (seafoods), Gosht Ke Pakwan (lamb curries) or exotic vegetarian dishes are on the menu at the Punjabi Hut. If Thai gets your taste buds singing, try Pad Kapao (beef with stir fried chilli..) or the mysterious sounding Crying Tiger at Lime Leaves. Pasha serves pide and kebabs. And on it goes - Turkish, Indian or a good burger and chips. Truly cosmopolitan.

Note: if you’re driving through Captains Flat and are feeling like a weekend bite, stop at the outsider. It’s an insiders’ secret.

Outsider Cafe

The cafes and restaurants of Queanbeyan are too many to place on a street map, the Queanbeyan Visitors Information Centre has put together a great  booklet on dining in town.

Phone Queanbeyan Information Centre on 02 6299 7307 or click here to visit the website.
