Fyre Gallery
FyreGallery is proud to be a sponsor of the 'Events' pages for The Kings Highway to Discovery because every year, twice a year, the gallery provides a fine art event designed to enrich the cultural life of our community and those who love to visit.
Since opening in April 2005, FyreGallery has earned a reputation for surprising and delighting residents and visitors to Braidwood with its twice-a-year feasts of fine art. Gallery Director, Cheryl Hannah, is committed to bringing exciting works by contemporary and celebrated Australian and international artists to a new audience. Highlights so far have been the 2006 '40 Picassos' show which literally stopped people in their tracks as they realised they could see and purchase authenticated works on paper by Picasso! Similarly, the vibrant works from PNG contemporary artists showcased in 'Unexpected' caught people's imaginations. At Easter 2006 textiles by master weaver Jenine Davidson beguiled audiences; Easter 2008 rewarded followers of Andy Townsend's intriguing collages with a knock-out exhibition and garnered him many new admirers. The 2008 November show of works by and about women drew high praise for its depth and variety, especially the beautiful woodblocks by Thea Proctor. In April 2009 FyreGallery will hang work by renowned women printmakers Phyllis Sloane, AnnaMaria Samaniego, and Sandra Duran-Wilson from Santa Fe, New Mexico, together with ceramic wall paintings by acclaimed Australian artist Suzanne Bellamy in a first for Australia, the show 'Under New Mexico Skies'. The November 2009 show will be a different sort of feast for the eyes when Cheryl collaborates again with Josef Lebovic Gallery, this time to bring the exquisite colour of 'Hall Thorpe' Prints to Braidwood. Committed to "Beautiful - Functional - Sustainable" FyreGallery, part of HannahFyre Enterprises, seeks to win an expanding audience for works on paper and contemporary textiles, one satisfied visitor at a time.
