Freshwater Recreational Fishing
There are plenty of waterways in this region where you can cast your rod, and with luck (and patience!) you might just catch you dinner.
A number of dams and rivers in this area provide excellent fishing, and are regularly stocked with brown & rainbow trout, Murray cod, and golden and silver perch.
Where you might find them…Around Queanbeyan
Around BraidwoodWhen fishing in NSW waters, both freshwater and saltwater, you are required by law to pay the NSW Recreational Fishing Fee and carry a receipt showing the payment of the fee. This applies when spear fishing, hand lining, hand gathering, trapping, bait collecting and prawn netting or when in possession of fishing gear in, on or adjacent to waters. (Information from NSW Fisheries)
About trout.....While fishing in designated trout dams is allowed all year round, trout rivers have a specific season when trout fishing is permitted.
