Mountain Bike RidingBreak loose of the City into the open spaces and get some real dirt on your rims. There are tons of great places to choose from.
In Canberra there’s Mt. Ainslie Nature Reserve. It borders the Canberra suburbs of Ainslie, Campbell and Hackett. A 24 km intermediate trail – civilised. Outside Queanbeyan at the Googong Foreshores there are 2 trails. Trail 1 (19 km long) runs on the western foreshore across fire trails through open grassland and woodlands with great views of the dam. Wow – just look at that! Ride 2 is the Queanbeyan Loop Ride (it’s about 20 km). It’s more of a challenge with steep grades and two river crossings. Tough but terrific (if it proves too tough just walk back – just look cool when you do it). Great picnic and BBQ facilities at Googong Foreshores. RIDE LIKE HELL – BUT PROTECT YOURSELF AND NATURE Near Bungendore in the very popular Kowen State Forest (half-way between Queanbeyan and Bungendore) is Sparrow Hill – it’s off the Kings Highway. You’ll find a mix of fire trails and single track rides. Give the Sparrow a fly. Mogo State Forest There are plenty of trails through the forest, it’s such a wicked ride that it’s the spot they hold the magic, truly magic, 'NETTI MTB ENDURO' every September. So You Want To Do Some Real Event Riding? Netti MTB Enduro Awesome – single track, beautiful berms – down the fire trails. It is awesome… and it will be happening again this September (2009) Netti MTB Enduro MOGO, EUROBADALLA COAST NSW ENTRIES CLOSE 1ST APRIL 2009 Lowden State Park - Water Wheel Between Captain’s Flat and Braidwood (in The Tallaganda State Forest) you can find Lowden Park with the Water Wheel – ride the fire trails to the Fire Station Lookout – then back down to the Water Wheel for picnic & BBQ – terrific. Ride Like Hell - But Take Care! |
